A5 Upcycled Sari Silk Fabric Wallet / Pen Pouch Insert. Lots of colours!
How pretty are these? A5 Wallet/pen pouch inserts, in lovely pale pastels and brilliant yellows, made for us by Midge Porter Design in Galloway. Each one is lined with calico and trimmed with lovely brilliantly coloured silk offcuts from sari hems! Obviously they are upcycled fabric so expect the odd wibble, stray sequin, unfinished raw edge and imperfection, but rather like the rangemarks in real leather, we rather like the little flaws because they remind us that the sari had an existence long before we made it into a wallet :D
The silk actually comes from waste fabric from Indian Sari mills--it is all hand woven and the scraps are hand torn by women in Bihar, who turn it into ribbon by hand sewing it end to end on an ancient Singer sewing machine. Working with textiles like this is often the only source of income for these women and their families, so every time you pop a pen in your pouch, spare a thought for those lovely women all that distance away :)
If you are (like us) a chronic overstuffer, then our wallet inserts will fill you with joy (and your planner cover, with even more Stuff). There's a lovely roomy zipped pen pouch, a full height pocket big enough for a decent sized chocolate bar or an iPhone 14 Max (but not both together. You'll just have to eat the chocolate I'm afraid), and three card pockets for stickers, Stuff, and...well. Cards.
It is possible to fit a fairly stuffed pouch, an A5 hardback, and one softback into our standard A5 width covers, so unless your cover is super-narrow these should fit ok.
